Dungse Garab Dorje Rinpoche
was born in Brekha,
Bhutan. Rinpoche is a Yogi-Rinpoche of god caste blood lineage
of King Trisong Deutsen (the human form of Manjushri) of Tibet.
Rinpoche is the original wisdom son of H.H Dudjom Rinpoche (who
in turn was regarded as the manifestation of Guru Rinpoche). Rinpoche's father is none other than
Dungse Thinley Norbu
Rinpohce, the emanation of Kuenkhen Longchen Rabjam, as well as
the rebirth of Terton Drimed Odser. Rinpoche's mother, Jamyang
Choedon comes from an equally impressive blood lineage -
Kuenkhen Pema Karpo. Rinpoche's eminent ancestry of such a
religious background ensured that it is natural for him to be
genuinely immersed in dharmic activities since young.
Rinpoche received his
early education from his father when he was only four. He was
admitted to the Simtokha Buddhist Institute in Bhutan when he
was only eight years old. He studied dharma from Lama Gyalwa
Nima of Tibet. Later, Rinpoche attended the Ogyen Kunzang
Choekhor Ling Monastery in Darjeeling for five years where he
learned pujas, hand writings and sutras reading. Then, for
another three years, Rinpoche went to Sikkhim to pursue highest
studies of the Vinaya Root Sutra (teachings of the morality),
under the guidance of Khenpo Lodoe Zangpo. Rinpoche also spent
another six years at Mindroling Monastery in Dehra Dun, India
where he learned Puja Mudra and Abhidharma, teachings of
knowledge, grammar, emptiness and the theory of Madhyamika.
Furthermore, Rinpoche spent another five years at Institute of
Buddhist Studies in Mysore, pursued higher studies and
researches, studying Madhyamika teachings of the another
emptiness, science of poetry and religious history.
Rinpoche studied
under the most extraordinary lamas. His root gurus are H.H
Dudjom Rinpoche (Jigdral Yeshe Dorje) and Dungse Thinley Norbu
Rinpoche. Rinpoche also received numerous teachings from H.H
Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and H.H Penor Rinpoche. Rinpoche has
established many monasteries and buddhist studies centres within
and outside Bhutan, among them are the Ranjung Woesel Choeling
Monastery (1989) for monks and Thekchok Kunzang Choedon Nunnery (1993)
for nuns and 4 retreat centres, they are all in East Bhutan. The
board, lodging and livelihood of around 300 monks and nuns in
these two monasteries are supported by the compassionate
Rinpoche.
Rinpoche also travels
worldwide frequently by the invitation of many Buddhist Centres
to give lineage teachings. The superior mission of Rinpoche is
to develop Buddha's teachings especially the teachings of the
Dudjom New Treasure. Followers and the disciples of Dudjom New
Treasure Lineage regard Rinpoche as the true successor of H.H
Dudjom Rinpoche and especially the Bhutanese, highly regarded
and expected Rinpoche to be the lineage holder and to lead the
dharma activities of this terma. With Rinpoche's unchangeable
compassion, the Dudjom New Treasure teachings will flourish
worldwide to benefit all sentient beings.
